PCC Barry Coppinger

Police and Crime Commissioner for Cleveland, Barry Coppinger said:

“I congratulate Ben Houchen on his election as the first Tees Valley Mayor.

“As the public of Cleveland will know, as PCC I have responsibility for the totality of Policing in the Cleveland area. I am, though, working on a number of community safety projects which may be of mutual interest.

“For example, I have helped promote a cyber crime conference next week, which has attracted over 100 businesses from the region and further afield.

“I have always adopted a partnership approach embracing public, private and voluntary sectors to ensure the best use of resources and I'm sure the new Mayor will be supportive of this.

“There are issues linking economic development and employment with policing and community safety which would benefit from such a partnership approach and I would welcome the opportunity to discuss these further with Mr Houchen.”
