Young people are being given the chance to quiz Cleveland’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Barry Coppinger, during an online web chat this week.

The “Ask Your Commissioner” event takes place between 6pm and 8pm on Wednesday 15th May and is being hosted on the Police and Crime Commissioner’s website.

It focuses specifically on young people as part of the Commissioner’s five objectives set down in the Police and Crime Plan are commitments relating to young people.

These include establishing a Young People’s Forum, diverting young people away from offending, engaging with young people in the criminal justice system and working with the Young People’s Strategic Planning Group to review and commission services.

Police and Crime Commissioner Barry Coppinger said: “As part of the Your Force, Your Voice programme I am really keen to engage with young people and see what their concerns are about crime in Teesside and what I can do to help.

“So I am in the process of setting up a range of ways for consulting with young people, for example I am visiting a number of colleges in the area.

“We know that most young people live their lives through social media so it seemed ideal to host a web chat specifically targeted at young people so that we can discuss their issues and interests.”

If you would like to submit a question prior to the event, please email sarah.wilson@cleveland.pnn.police.uk.
