Below are updates of his activity whilst at conference in Brighton.

DAY 1 - Sunday 27 September 2015

Fringe Meeting: "Backing Labours PCCs & Protecting Communities" (PCCs + Shadow Speakers)
With over 50 people in attendance, there were presentations from attending PCCs, Jack Dromey (Shadow Policing Minister) followed by a Q+A session.

Attending PCCs held constructive talks with Andy Burnham (Shadow Home Secretary) who is speaking to the full conference on Wednesday morning.  Andy Burnham pledged he will campaign for policing in same way he did for the NHS and has arranged to meet regularly with PCCs from now on.

This was a well attended meeting which included Vera Baird (Northumbria PCC), Charles Falconer (Shadow Justice Secretary) and members of the Law Society. Details of current issues within the justice system were presented (e.g court closures, legal aid cuts, new fines for Magistrates Courts for people who can't pay etc).

I spent the morning in full conference listening to debates on Europe, international development, world affairs, business and innovation and the speech from John McDonnell (Shadow Chancellor).

In the afternoon, I attended fringe meetings in the Youth Zone, with the Local Government Association and another to do with pensions.

Later, I attended fringe meetings relating to international issues.

DAY 3 - Tuesday 29 September 2015

During the morning, I was in full conference listening to very good reports and debates on housing and Local Government.

At lunchtime, I attended the Policing Fringe Meeting with Andy Burnham (Shadow Home Secretary), Jack Dromey (Shadow Policing Minister), Sara Thornton (Chief Constable of Thames Valley Police and Chair of the National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC)), Superintendents Association and Police Federation.
