The PCC serves residents across the area covering the four boroughs of Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar & Cleveland and Stockton – and the six parliamentary constituencies within Cleveland.
The team of three full-time and one temporary assistants deal with all casework, telephone enquiries and correspondence from the 550,000 residents within the Cleveland area and across the country. PCC staff maintain an extensive information management system, with over 1500 live cases therein as of April 2018, relating to all areas of PCC work. An important part of this is handling public casework, including problem-solving for the public on behalf of the PCC, responding to statutory requests and researching and providing information to a wide range of organisations.
The team also maintain appropriate records, and provide administration and secretarial support to the office as a whole, and the PCC in particular regarding his local, regional and national responsibilities.
