The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner is required to publish the most recent report by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMICFRS) on the effectiveness, efficiency and legitimacy of the Cleveland Police(also known as PEEL reports).
We are also required to publish a summary assessment of the performance of the police force, through national measures.
Police and Crime Commissioner Steve Turner monitors how crime is changing across the force area so that the needs of communities can be better understood. This then influences how the PCC sets priorities for the police (through his Police and Crime Plan), makes decisions, works with others and commissions services.
Cleveland OPCC is committed to ensuring that performance data about Cleveland Police is available and transparent. You can find useful links for accessing that data on this page.
National Crime and Policing Data:
The National Priorities for Policing were introduced by the Government in 2021. The priorities are specified by the Government in the National Crime and Policing Measures.
The aim of the national measures is to complement existing local priorities set out in the Cleveland Police and Crime Plan 2021-2024.
The key national policing priorities are:
- Reduce murder and other homicide
- Reduce serious violence
- Disrupt drugs supply and county lines
- Reduce neighbourhood crime
- Improve victim satisfaction with a focus on victims of domestic abuse
- Tackle cyber crime
The Commissioner is required to provide a statement on the contribution of Cleveland Police in achieving improvements against these national priorities. See most recent statements below:
