Gerry from Cleveland police's Crime Prevention team, here to give you monthly top tips to help keep you safe!

CRIME PREVENTION:

Gerry's Top Tip!

10 Principles of crime prevention

The top tip this month, is the 5th principle of crime prevention, ‘surveillance’

The more a property is surveilled, the less likely it is to be targeted by criminals. The types of surveillance are:

  • Natural – e.g.cutting back foliage to allow better view of premises
  • Formal – e.g. CCTV systems
  • Informal – e.g. passers by, dog walkers, neighbours
