Based in the Tees Valley, they specifically support asylum seekers navigating the application process, offering a crucial lifeline to those in need.
Their work is focused on three core areas: developing solutions, building resilience, and promoting understanding.
Justice First plans to host a one-day multicultural football tournament on Saturday June 21st 2025, with the primary goal of promoting community unity, reducing fear of crime and authorities, and enhancing social integration among diverse social and cultural groups in Teesside. By bringing together communities through sport, they aim to create an environment of inclusivity and understanding.
They anticipate around 20 teams, each consisting of eight players (plus supporters) from different backgrounds, totaling approximately 250 individuals. The event will also feature service providers such as the Red Cross, local police, and health services, who will be present to engage with refugee and asylum-seeking communities. This will offer an opportunity for participants to learn how to confidently access vital services, including reporting crimes, particularly hate crimes – and aligns to the PCC’s Police and Crime Plan priorities:
- Ensuring the right support for victims and vulnerable people.
- Building trust and confidence in policing and the criminal justice system.
