FOI Request
I am getting in touch with a Freedom of Information request regarding bleeding kits.
I would like to find out:
- How many bleeding kits (to be used by the public if the situation requires) are in your area?
- How many have been reported to be used in the past 5 years?
- Have often do you check the bleeding kits are in date or have not been vandalised?
FOI Response
1. How many bleeding kits (to be used by the public if the situation requires) are in your area?
13 across the four local authority areas of Hartlepool, Stockton-on-Tees, Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland.
12 of these were funded by the Cleveland Unit for the Reduction of Violence, part of the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Cleveland.
One cabinet was funded by local community fundraising.
2. How many have been reported to be used in the past 5 years?
All 13 cabinets have been in place less than a year and none have been reported as used in this time.
3. Have often do you check the bleeding kits are in date or have not been vandalised?
As the bleed cabinets are in local authority ownership, it is their responsibility to ensure the cabinets are in date and have not been vandalised. To confirm how the local authorities are conducting their checks, you will need to speak with them directly.
