Services in Cleveland that support victims of domestic abuse and sexual violence will have a chance to secure additional funding for the coming financial year.
The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) for Cleveland has access to extra funding via the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) as part of a £13.5m national investment.
Organisations that support victims of domestic abuse or sexual violence – whether currently commissioned by the OPCC or not – are invited to submit a needs assessment for consideration.
The MoJ has advised Cleveland OPCC that their indicative funding is as follows:
• Domestic abuse: £220,073
• Sexual violence: £42,994
Unlike the extraordinary Covid-19 funding provided in 2020/21, organisations do not need to be a registered charity, a charitable incorporated organisation, or a social enterprise to be eligible for this funding.
Acting Police and Crime Commissioner Lisa Oldroyd said: “Sadly Cleveland has significant levels of domestic abuse and sexual violence, and therefore we need adequate services to help victims and survivors recover.
“This additional funding will allow us to build on and strengthen the existing provision we have in place to help vulnerable people to move forward with their lives.”

Completed assessments must be returned to [email protected] by 12-noon on Wednesday 24 February 2021.
Successful applicants will be notified w/c 15 March 2021.
