CLEVELAND Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner is looking for Independent Members to sit on Misconduct Panels and Police Appeals Tribunals.
Misconduct Hearings consider allegations of serious misconduct against police officers and special constables.
Police Appeals Tribunals hear appeals against the findings of internal disciplinary proceedings brought against members of the force.
Appointing Independent Panel Members (IPMs) gives impartial assurance that decisions are objective, reasonable, proportionate and fair.
Cleveland PCC Matt Storey said: “This is a unique opportunity to make a positive contribution to these proceedings and to support and contribute to the delivery of policing for our communities
“To carry out the role, you will be supported through training and development sessions. “
IPMs are expected to serve for up to five years. They are invited to sit on about three panels per year in Cleveland – but there will also be opportunities to sit outside the force area across the North of England.
Cleveland OPCC operates a joint list of IPMs with other OPCCs across the north of England.
By law, the OPCC must hold a list of IPMs, who are appointed independently of Cleveland Police.
