The Charltons Community Centre is a charity
It provides community facilities for the village of Charltons, surrounding towns and villages.
The committee try to keep the facility open for the use of residents and local groups to encourage social cohesion and wellbeing.
The Centre has applied for funding from the Police Property Act Fund. This is to help with ongoing renovation plans.
The centre was developed to allow disabled access. However, although the centre has an existing ramp and railings, the railings need some care and maintenance.
The centre wants to hold a series of workshops with a local blacksmith for the children and young people from the surrounding area.
It is hoped that from a design will be developed for a set of new railings from the workshops. The design is expected to feature the area’s mining heritage and natural landscape.
