The Lord’s Taverners is a UK youth cricket and disability sports charity.
It creates opportunities for young people from deprived areas as well as those with disabilities to actively engage in sports and recreational activities in their local communities.
Wicketz is a community cohesion project which uses cricket as a catalyst to engage young people aged 8-19 experiencing deprivation and disadvantage across Hartlepool.
Wicketz uses cricket to address the local issues that are affecting the young people within those communities.
The Wicketz Hartlepool project is delivered in partnership with Durham County Cricket Board. It is a well-established programme, which has been running for the past five years in Brierton, Lynnfield and Mill House. They also run a dedicated girl’s hub in Seaton Carew.
The Lord’s Taverners has requested funding to continue the project in the Hartlepool area. The programme will be offered at no cost as well as being held locally reducing any financial or transportation burden.
Funding will be used for venue hire, coaching and a lifestyle workshop which will include topics on crime and anti-social behaviour.
