Executive Summary
As part of the Government’s Young Futures Programme, and in alignment with the Police and Crime Plan priority to, `Reduce crime, antisocial behaviour and harm’, the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) has secured up to £200,000 in Home Office funding to support the development and delivery of a local Young Futures Prevention Panel.
Led by Cleveland’s Violence Reduction Unit (CURV), the funding will enable the piloting of a new multi-agency mechanism aimed at identifying children and young people who are vulnerable and at risk of being drawn into crime, including violence. The initiative will ensure timely access to needs-based support, including appropriate intervention and services.
In support of this programme, the Home Office requested the identification of one upper-tier local authority area within each VRU area to establish and pilot the Panel approach. Following a comprehensive selection process, CURV and its partners identified Hartlepool Borough Council, specifically the Hartlepool Inclusion Panel, as the most appropriate platform to support the pilot.
To facilitate delivery in Hartlepool, funding will be awarded to Hartlepool Borough Council to
appoint a part-time Panel Co-ordinator.
