Decision to award £86,000 of funding to MFC Foundation to continue the delivery of the MFC
Kicks Programme across Cleveland until March 2025.
Kicks is a national initiative funded by the Premier League. It uses football and the brand of professional football club to engage 8 to 18-year-olds in deprived areas where crime, anti-social
behaviour and youth violence are prevalent. Premiership funding is dependent on match funding locally.
MFC Foundation has requested funding to continue to deliver Kicks in Middlesbrough, Stockton, Hartlepool and Redcar and Cleveland.
Activity is targeted in areas where many of the young people who attend are at risk of
offending, or are known offenders.
Benefits are expected to include a reduction in youth crime and anti-social behaviour in the targeted areas, and an increase in community cohesion.
Kicks supports the PCC’s objectives of Tackling Anti-Social Behaviour Head-on and Preventing, Reducing and Tackling Serious Violence.
