The Police and Crime Commissioner has agreed to commit to the National Crown Commercial Services (CCS) contract to November 2018.
The contract is in respect of fuel card and vehicle hire services.
The decision has been made in order to achieve best value, as CCS is considered to be the cost effective route for Cleveland Police to buy fuel for its fleet and to hire cars.
Currently, there are 520 fuel cards in operation throughout Cleveland Police.
There is an annual charge of £12 for each fuel card. This equates to £6,240 across the force. Fuel costs are in addition to this.
