Soroptimist International, which has 75,000 members in 122 countries, works at global national, regional and local community level.
The organisation was founded in 1921 to improve the lives of women and girls through education, empowerment and enabling opportunities.
The Soroptimists have previously provided 38 emergency packs to Cleveland Police to hand out to victims of trafficking.
Cleveland Police seek another 20 of these packs which include:
- basic clothing
- toiletries
- £5 cash.
The Soroptimists will also include 15 mobile phones with the packs for officers to hand out. This initiative supports the Police and Crime Commissioner’s objective of Ensuring a Better Deal for victims and witnesses.
