Home Instead Senior Care is a private sector organisation.
It provides high quality companionship, home help and personal care for the elderly and other vulnerable people who want to live as independently and for as long as possible in the comfort of their own homes.
There are a growing number of scams directed at the elderly and other vulnerable groups.
The project aims to help Protect Elderly People from Fraud. It does so by running over 200 workshops for interested groups/community collectives.
Tool kits and advice
Workshops raise awareness and tell people about fraud. Workshops also provide tools and advice to help people avoid being affected by these increasingly common activities.
Home Instead Senior Care nationally is a major partner with the national ‘Think Jessica’ charity. Think Jessica is also associated with Cleveland Police. It also partners with the Alzheimers Society.
The organisation has produced presentation materials, a ‘toolkit’ as well as hand-out booklets and checklists to be communicated with and distributed to local communities and interested groups via the local franchise network of independent offices around the country.
The project aims to work with local agencies such as libraries, neighbourhood police, community groups and independent living facilities.
In addition, it works with voluntary and interest Groups such as the Women’s Institute, Royal Voluntary Service, Age UK, Trading Standards and Community Centres .
In short, Home Instead works with any and every interested group involved in protecting and enhancing the lives, interests and wellbeing of the elderly.
Services will be promoted via community networking and media. The project will deliver over 200 presentations to over 5000 people directly.
Vulnerable people, specifically the elderly, across the region will be direct beneficiaries of the information and toolkits.
Benefits will be via the reduction in the propensity for crime and the fear of crime as well as avoiding the devastating emotional, financial and physical trauma of the effects of being scammed.
