The Hartlepool Unit of Cleveland Police Cadets has been awarded £745 from the PCC Community Safety Initiatives Fund
Funding will enable them to buy 100 padlock alarms to support a crime prevention/reduction initiative at allotments in Hartlepool.
The initiative is a joint operation between the Integrated Neighbourhood Teams (INTS) and Hartlepool Police Cadets.
Operation Scarecrow aims to prevent and reduce crime around allotments in the Local Policing Area.
The operation will take place in three phases carried out over three consecutive weeks.
As part of Phase one, cadets will be taught how to deliver crime prevention advice. Training will be delivered by a Crime Prevention Officer from Hartlepool Borough Council. Cadets will also design a crime prevention leaflet.
Phase Two will involve the distribution of leaflets and property marking equipment at allotments. The leaflets will include the date and time of Phase three.
Phase three involves the distribution of 100 padlock alarms together with pedal cycle labels. Labels have been donated by Hartlepool Borough Council’s Crime Prevention.
