The PCCs for Cleveland, Durham and Northumbria want to buy a building as the new premises for the North East Regional Special Operations Unit (NERSOU.)
The new building will also house the National Crime Agency.
The purchase is necessary because the current premises are no longer large enough:
- To accommodate NERSOU;
- To allow NERSOU to be located alongside the National Crime Agency
- To enable growth for further colaberative activities
It will cost £2.7m to buy the new NERSOU building. Additional costs, fees and charge will bring the final figure to about £3.8m
The new building has the potential to house other joint strategic policing initiatives in the future.
The decision supports the PCCs objectives of Investing in our Police, Working Together to Make Cleveland Safer and Securing the Future of our Communities.
