Stalking is a pattern of repeated, unwanted behaviour that causes you to feel distressed or scared.
It often has a huge emotional impact on victims. It can lead to feelings of depression, anxiety and even post-traumatic stress disorder.
About 45% of people, who contact the National Helpline, say they are stalked by an ex-partner. A further third have had some sort of prior acquaintance with their stalker.
Most reported victims of stalking or harassment are women but victims are drawn from all sections of society and any sexuality.

Stalking Protection Orders
The police and courts can issue Stalking Protection Orders. They can be used to protect anyone, who has been the victim of stalking
The order can stop the stalker from doing certain things, such as going to places, where you live, work or visit often.
The order can also require the stalker to do certain things for your safety, such as handing over devices like mobile phones, computers and tablets to the police.
Breaching (or breaking) a protection order, without a good reason, is a criminal offence.
