Nominate a Community Payback project to suggest what unpaid work should be carried out by People on Probation in your area!
Community Payback can be part of a community sentence when individuals have committed certain low-levels crimes, including public order offences, theft and dishonesty.
It adds value to communities as the public benefit from the unpaid work. It also has a positive impact on the People on Probation carrying out the work. Community Payback gives their lives’ structure and gives them a sense of value.
Local businesses have a direct say in determining the kinds of unpaid work People on Probation (PoP) carry out, which may include the following;
- Improving open spaces
- Groundworks
- Maintenance of public footpaths and parks
- Painting and decorating public property.
Nominated projects must meet the following criteria:
- Access to toilet facilities
- Access to shelter
- The project must take a reasonable length of time, lasting a few weeks or longer
- Benefit the local community
- Not take paid work away from other people
- Not generate a profit for anyone

What happens next
You will get a confirmation email after you’ve submitted your nomination. You’ll be contacted again when your nomination has been assessed. At this point, you’ll be told if and when work can start on your project
