The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) has approved £452,500.00-worth of funding to deliver CURV’s Action Plan this year.
In February 2025, the PCC received notification from the Home Office of the Violence Reduction Units Grant Award (25/26)
Requirements for Delivery provided the direction and guidance for VRUs to shape their plans for 2025 -2026. A number of projects for this year had to be considered as high impact.
Aligned to the Home Office guidance and the priorities of the Police and Crime Plan, CURV produced an annual delivery plan, which commits funds from the core grant of £1.047m.
The PCC has approved the following projects and funding:
£75,000 for analysis and evaluation- £7,500 for Youth Voices (youth engagement programme)
- £75,000 for A and E navigators (high impact)
- £50,000 for focussed deterrance (high Impact)
- £45,000 for sports intervention from MFC Kicks (high Impact)
- £100,000 for the Knife Crime Action Plan
- £100,000 for the Town Centre Action Plan
- £50,000 for school navigator programme Proclaim
The total spend on interventions for the coming year, is as follows:
- Total Intervention spend = £586,366 or 56% of core grant.
- High Impact Interventions = £386,366 or 37% of core grant
It should be noted that this DRF is in addition to DRF 2024/25 – 020. It confirmed funding of £216,366 to support the Custody Navigator Scheme until 31March 2026.
Agreed interventions reflect the following priorities in the Police and Crime Plan 2024-29:
- Reduce crime, antisocial behaviour and harm
- Improve safety for women and girls
- Ensure the right support for victims and vulnerable people
- Tackle offending and re-offending
