Lisa Oldroyd was appointed Acting Police and Crime Commissioner for Cleveland in September 2020 and will provide stewardship until the PCC election in May 2021.

The role of the commissioner
The Police and Crime Commissioner makes sure Cleveland Police is effective and efficient and provides value for money. The PCC also sets the force’s priorities and represents the views of victims, witnesses and the local community.

The Police and Crime Commissioner is responsible for holding the Chief Constable to account for the delivery of an efficient and effective police service in Cleveland.

Oath taken by the PCC
In order to fulfil the role, the Police & Crime Commissioner (PCC) must swear an Oath of Office. The oath means the PCC swears to serve the people of Cleveland in the role, act with integrity and ensure the independence of Cleveland Police.
