Executive Summary
Cleveland OPCC have been part of a working group developing a conference which will be hosted by the Centre of Expertise on child sexual abuse.
The aim of the conference is to raise awareness of key research and themes around working with child sexual abuse to enhance the practice of key practitioners working across Cleveland.
The conference will be delivered to multi agency staff working in both children and adult services.
The conference is being joint funded by both Safeguarding Children’s Partnerships in North and South Tees, and the Tees-wide Safeguarding Adults Board.
The working group have requested a contribution of £1,483 from Cleveland OPCC to cover the costs of a ‘lived experience’ keynote speaker, The Flying Child.
The speaker is a child sexual abuse survivor who will open the conference and set the trauma-informed expectation for the day and provide input as a survivor and activist in the field. This speaker is located outside of the Cleveland area and has additional needs which require support. The request of £1,483 will cover transport to the conference, overnight accommodation and out of pocket expenses for the speaker and her support person.
