The Royal British Legion is a charity which supports veterans and serving personnel of the armed forces with welfare, emergency grants & information. Veterans are disproportionally represented in the criminal justice and also particularly likely to experience mental health concerns which can be a factor in offending behaviour, therefore early intervention and support for this vulnerable cohort supports the Police and Crime Plan priority around reducing offending and reoffending, together with building confidence in our communities through increased support available within the community.
Funding will be used to support a Festival of Remembrance event being held at Stockton Globe Theatre on 15th June 2024 to commemorate the 80th Anniversary of the D Day Landings. Funding will be used to cover part of the costs of venue hire, performers and promotional posters and leaflets.
Additional local sponsorship will be sought to cover the remaining costs of hosting the event which will bring the local community together and also raise awareness of the range of support and services the Royal British Legion can provide. Funding will also be raised through ticket sales. Any profit generated by the event will be donated to the Poppy Appeal which supports serving and ex serving armed forces personal and their families.
