The IDVA Service provides a range of options to improve the safety of victims and their families, offering information and support, crisis intervention, safety planning, advocacy and practical emotional support to enable victims to make positive changes, reduce risk and minimise the risk of repeat victimisation.
The Police and Crime Commissioner’s commissioning intentions set out for the financial year 2017/18 supports the IDVA service. The contribution provided by the PCC to the local Community Safety Partnerships will ensure that this vital service will continue and ensure that those identified as high risk and requiring support from an IDVA are provided with one in order to provide much needed support and assistance to ensure they do not become a repeat victim in the future.
The funding will support and add value to the current commissioned domestic abuse service within each locality.
Overall the service ensures that the holistic needs of victims and their families are met by working in partnership with a range of local organisations to cope with the immediate impact of domestic abuse and recover from the harm experienced.
