Executive Summary:
The North East Retail Crime Partnership (NERCP) was launched in May 1999.
Originally supported by Northumbria Police, the partnership was so successful that Durham joined in 2000. Durham was followed by Cleveland in 2002 and North Yorkshire in 2008.
NERCP gathers information, intelligence and sightings from member stores and partner organisations.
Newsletters pull together information and feature the region’s most prolific offenders in terms of retail crime.
This is in addition to the regular alerts on active known and unknown offenders, which NERCP send. These alerts go to member outlets, police forces and regional intelligence units.
NERCP has asked Cleveland Police and Crime Commissioner for £7,000 in funding for the next 12 months.
Cleveland Police funded NERCP between April 2008 and March 2012.
Cleveland’s contribution will be in addition to funding from Durham, Northumbria and North Yorkshire PCCs.
