Results of public on the level of precept for 2018/19 are as follows:
- 79.93% of respondents said that they would be happy to pay the extra amount to support Policing; while
- 20.07% said that they would prefer Policing Services to be cut as they were unwilling to the pay the extra amount.
If the precept is increased by £12 on Band D properties then the Net Budget Requirement is expected to increase in 2018/19, by £1.9m (or 1.6%).

While this is better than the organisation was planning, it is worth noting that this increase is absorbed by additional costs. Primarily those costs include a 2% pay award and more general inflation (CPI is currently 3.0% and RPI 4.1%).
