Shop Wise is an initiative developed by Northumbria Coalition Against Crime (NCAC) incorporating the North East Retail Crime Partnership and Youth & Community Programmes.
It aims at engaging young people on the subject of retail crime.
NCAC has requested funding to deliver 30 sessions to approximately 750 pupils in schools in Redcar and Cleveland and Middlesbrough.
To give sessions more impact, they are delivered by a retailer and a NCAC facilitator. Retailers gain specific training from NCAC before helping to facilitate sessions.
The Shop Wise Project supports the PCCs priority of diverting people from offending, with a focus on rehabilitation and the prevention of re-offending.
