A collaborative procurement exercise was conducted for police vehicles and spare parts.
This was done through the Crown Commercial Service (CCS) vehicle framework contracts.
To achieve efficiencies and economies of scale, the collaborative group agreed to use an e-auction exercise. This was conducted via the CCS procurement portal.
The e-auction was considered to be the most cost effective route to procuring from framework contracts.
The e-auction took place on 4 June 2015. Final pricing received was extremely competitive and represented an approximate saving of £5.3m for the consortium as a whole over the initial 24-month contract term.
