The IT department has set out two business cases showing the need to invest in two areas of IT infrastructure within the organisation.
The first business case requests £70k to upgrade the Core IT links (WAN) between HQ and the Middlesbrough HQ . These are the two main sites for IT infrastructure.
This investment was expected. Advice from ICT is that it would be more effective to carry out work during current upgrades to telecommunications. This would reduce revenue costs from £250k to £70k. This also explains the urgency and the in-year bid.
The second business case requests funds for a Firewall. This will ensure the service, which routes telephone calls from a client’s private branch exchange telephone system to the public switched telephone network, is at the security level required by a Police service.
