In Cleveland, high reoffending rates persist for adults and youth. The PCC is determined to address this by strengthening the criminal justice system. Aiming for meaningful community work for those on community orders and also addressing root causes like mental health and substance misuse. Collaboration is key, and the PCC will lead a partnership involving Police, Probation, prisons, and courts.

Community Payback Project
Community Payback can be part of a community sentence when individuals have committed certain low-levels crimes. Nominate a Community Payback project to suggest what unpaid work should be carried out.

Divert Custody scheme
Cleveland Divert aims to divert first time and low-level offenders away from the criminal justice system. Divert supports them to address the underlying problems causing offending behaviour to help turn their lives around.
