Durham Police has awarded a regional contract to a company called GSA to provide telephone analysis for investigations.
The Home Office is funding £120K of installation, licensing and project management charges that are particular to the Cleveland Police element of the regional solution.
Durham Police will award a five-year contract on behalf of the region to GSA. Cleveland Police are asked to sign an agreement with Durham Police for this solution.
As a result, Cleveland Police will be required to pay Durham Police four years-worth of maintenance from 1 April 2015.
The Home Office is funding Durham Police to provide the first year’s maintenance from 1April 2014.
As a result, the PCC is asked to agree to enter into a maintenance contract with Durham police for the provision of an electronic workflow for regional covert requirements.
The first year of the contract is funded from Home Office funding. Thereafter, the costs to Cleveland will be £16k per annum.
This new system will replace the current system, for which the contract has not yet ended.
AS a result, there will be an overlap of systems that will cost an additional £37k
