The OPCC has a commissioning strategy, which outlines how funding and resources will be used to support delivery of the Police and Crime Plan 2024–2029 and the six priorities contained within it which are:
- Tackle offending and reoffending
- Reduce crime, antisocial behaviour and harm
- Deliver more visible and effective policing
- Improve safety for women and girls
- Ensure the right support for victims and vulnerable people
- Build trust and confidence in policing and the criminal justice system
Overview of Commissioning
The OPCC defines commissioning as: “the identification and assessment of need and the development of policy direction or selection of the most appropriate delivery mechanism by which to satisfy need in a cost effective way.”
The OPCC has five commissioning priorities:
